About Ben

I'm a conceptual thinker, and a writer who believes in the discipline of writing. I believe that The Big Idea is often a small idea - something specific, relatable, and unique that grabs peoples' attention. I strive to create work that informs or entertains - hopefully both.

Ben appreciates art.

I am a former academic who had an epiphany while watching a Bonanza-themed Taco Bell commercial, and promptly abandoned a Ph.D program to spend my life making silly things for big serious corporations.

20 years later, I’ve done work for more agencies than I can count (I suck at math) and I’ve written for big brands in nearly every category except for beauty and private prison management.

Along the way, I acquired a respectable clutch of industry awards, two sons, three cats, and a reputation for being a capable, agreeable, client-friendly freelance writer and creative director.

Through repressed-memory recovery techniques I rediscovered my love of all things automotive, which I have turned into a professional specialty despite the fact I will never be able to afford a garage in Brooklyn.

I have a bad habit of giving the “thumbs-up” gesture when I’m nervous or excited, which confuses everyone including myself.

👍

I spend my spare time writing humor, riding bikes, and swearing at broken things around the house.

Want to hire me or maybe just have a fun Zoom conversation for once?
